Gilera DNA.org

This part of the blog is devoted to the Gilera DNA Hybrid scooter made between 2001 and 2003. I still own one of these but only occasionally use it as it has about 28,000 miles on the clock now.

This Blog and Gilera DNA.org

A while back for a bit of fun I took advantage of the Microsoft Office Live offer of a free website, email, hosting and URL. I developed a little fansite for the Gilera DNA thinking there must be an audience out there for it. There wasn’t. The site has been on death row ever since. I did develop a new line in blogging though which I would like to keep up, obviously a scooter blog, which ever since I have been trying to find a home for. It started as a blog about my experiences with my Gilera but developed into a blog about all things scootering.

My Gilera

This is my 2003 Gilera DNA 180, bought secondhand with 2 previous owners and 5500 on the clock.

My DNA

Here is my present bike. It’s obviously had an interesting life. It appears in very good condition but seems to have had an amount of work done to it. That tyre is a Michelin rather than the usual Pirrellis, all the decals have been taken off except the ones on the dummy tank, the footpegs have been removed (but still came with the bike,) and the aftermarket mirrors are rather cheapy but functional. I ride this bike to work every day on the A40 and North Circular, tough urban roads you know, and it’s a great machine for the job. Powerful enough for it’s size but small enough to filter and able for the 35 mile round trip.

  1. You mention the small shop, but you fail to mention the huge service and after sales department in St Albans, where we store another thirty bikes and keep an unrivalled stock of Piaggio spares.

Also, we still stock all the Piaggio/ Vespa/ Gilera models, so you won’t miss anything

    Cheers!

  2. Good to read your blog. Keep it up and keep us updated in the future on the DNA as its a bike I like and want to get in the future.
