About Me
About this blog
This blog is about
- The Gilera DNA hybrid scooter.
- Piaggio group scooters in general, particularly the Piaggio MP3
- The Aprilia Mana 850, the descendant of the Gilera DNA
- General bike news
In that order.
This Blog and Gilera DNA.org
A while back for a bit of fun I took advantage of the Microsoft Office Live offer of a free website, email, hosting and URL. I developed a little fansite for the Gilera DNA thinking there must be an audience out there for it. There wasn’t. The site has been on death row ever since. I did develop a new line in blogging though which I would like to keep up, obviously a scooter blog, which ever since I have been trying to find a home for. It started as a blog about my experiences with my Gilera but developed into a blog about all things scootering.
I came here for two reasons:
- Easy transfer of the old blog from Blogger.
- The Pages feature here.
This means I can have a properly featured blog AND bring my content over from http://gileradna.org/ which I put a lot of work into really and want hosted somewhere. Bottom line, I’m a blogger not a webmaster.
My Gilera
This is my 2003 Gilera DNA 180, bought secondhand with 2 previous owners and 5500 on the clock.

Here is my present bike. It’s obviously had an interesting life. It appears in very good condition but seems to have had an amount of work done to it. That tyre is a Michelin rather than the usual Pirrellis, all the decals have been taken off except the ones on the dummy tank, the footpegs have been removed (but still came with the bike,) and the aftermarket mirrors are rather cheapy but functional. I ride this bike to work every day on the A40 and North Circular, tough urban roads you know, and it’s a great machine for the job. Powerful enough for it’s size but small enough to filter and able for the 35 mile round trip.
About Me
I’m 43 and live in North West London, UK. I used to be a hardcore blogger but I’ve sort of retired from that now and have moved on. This site is maintained mostly as an archive. I blog as therapy and don’t really care if it gets read or not. Strange but there you are.

You mention the small shop, but you fail to mention the huge service and after sales department in St Albans, where we store another thirty bikes and keep an unrivalled stock of Piaggio spares.
Also, we still stock all the Piaggio/ Vespa/ Gilera models, so you won’t miss anything
Cheers!
