Piaggio MP3 400 LT on a car licence
March 14, 2010 at 1:14 pm | Posted in Piaggio, Piaggio MP3, scooter sites | Leave a commentI came across this interesting article on the Twist & Go website about a variant of the Piaggio MP3 400 i.e. that has been tweaked so it can be ridden on a car licence. It exploits the little used B1 classification apparently held by all car drivers who passed after 1997. I can see that this would be useful in families like mine where not everyone has a motorcycle licence but people do have car licenses.
The main problem seems to be the price: £5,349 for the regular i.e. version, £6,499 for the LT version. That’s £1,150 more for nothing more that a few tweaks to the chassis and the regular version is relatively expensive anyway. That’s ridiculous.
It’s all very well to target the scooter at executive types but it seems to be a massive lost opportunity. The only way I can see someone like myself affording one of these is to buy it second hand or if they drop the price.
